The importance of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit

Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) published a deficit reduction plan entitled “Back in Black” which includes a proposal to eliminate the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit) program. The Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC) produced a rebuttal piece designed to educate Members of Congress as to the importance of the Housing Credit program and the misguided efforts of Senator Coburn. As of August 3, 2011, there are over 540 co-signers to this document demonstrating the strength of the Housing Credit industry.
