| Title : Join Southeastern PA in Budget Rally for Essential Services - Wednesday, Aug. 26 |
Date Posted : August 20, 2009 |
Join citizens around southeastern PA to rally for an end to the budget impasse, funding for essential services, and responsible reinvestment in the state's economy, Thursday, August 26 at noon, at the Courthouse in Media, PA.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Coalition for Essential Services, a coalition made up of over 20 of southeastern Pennsylvania’s nonprofit agencies, will be rallying at the Media courthouse to remind lawmakers that the budget impasse is having a devastating effect on both human services delivery in the region, as well as on the Pennsylvania economy as a whole.
The goal of the rally is to prompt legislators to quickly pass a budget that adequately funds essential services for Pennsylvania’s children, seniors, people with mental illness or a disability, and other people that depend upon the vital services provided by area nonprofits.
The rally will highlight the challenges nonprofits are facing without a Pennsylvania budget in place, as well as the results of a survey of nonprofits conducted by the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania gauging the effects of the budget impasse.
